Our History

Spanning nearly four decades and five generations, Rubix is deeply rooted in innovation.

Aaron Block

1942

The Max Block Canning Company, founded in 1910, was sold to Vita Foods®, where Aaron Block, Max’s son, joined the company.

1948

Aaron Block and Aaron Lapin co-found Reddi-Wip in Jacksonville, Florida.

1965

Mickey Block, Aaron’s son, builds the first ultra-high temperature (UHT) dairy plant in the U.S. – extending the shelf life of dairy from 14 to 60 days.

1978

Mickey Block’s UHT dairy plant is sold to the Beatrice Foods Corporation.

1981

Darifair Foods is founded and chartered as the first national dairy supplier.

1990s

Darifair becomes the nation’s largest producer of portion-controlled private label sour cream.

1997

Darifair brings mashed potato blends to foodservice.

1998

Darifair developed a revolutionary clean-label cream replacement that eliminated a multitude of problems associated with traditional heavy cream, including improved nutritional data, stability, color degradation and texture.

2000s

Darifair leads the development of national dairy programs for several high-profile foodservice brands.

2005

Dairfair invested in their first HTST skid rig, expanding their R&D and culinary capabilities and propelling the business into value-added ingredient innovation.

2008

Mickey Block steps down, naming Andy Block CEO, Bill Block CFO/COO, and Jeffrey Block Executive Vice President, ushering in a 3rd generation of Block family leadership with a renewed focus on culinary and science.

2011

Darifair introduces economical, clean label specialty sauces to food service.

2015

Midd McManus joins Darifair as President, signaling a commitment to dynamic growth in both talent and capabilities beyond dairy.

2019

Darifair partners with Arbor Investments to continue its strong track record of growth.

2020

Darifair breaks ground on their new 50,000 sq. ft. Innovation Center and Headquarters  in Jacksonville, Florida.

2021

Darifair rebrands as Rubix Foods, showcasing its growth beyond dairy into a premier flavor and ingredient company.

2022

The brand new, state-of-the-art Rubix Foods Innovation Center opens in Jacksonville, Florida.
